Photos, dimensions and a description of cracking, rutting or settlement help distinguish localized repairs from broader replacement. Existing pavement may require removal and base correction before a new surface is placed. An overlay and a full reconstruction are different scopes and should be priced that way.
For parking lots, access roads and truck areas, the preparation scope can include pavement removal, excavation, subgrade correction, aggregate sub-base placement and compaction. We coordinate final levels with drainage structures, entrances and the specified asphalt section.
Passenger parking, delivery traffic, equipment access and heavy truck movements place different demands on a pavement section. Provide the engineer’s aggregate and asphalt specifications, anticipated vehicle loads and turning areas. We price the specified section and identify where design information is still needed.
For an occupied business, identify parking that must remain available, delivery hours, accessible routes and entrances. A phased paving plan can separate work areas and coordinate closures. Drainage structures, utility covers and tie-ins need to be included in the limits of work rather than left to the end.
Paving area, compacted asphalt thickness, mix specification, base repairs and access affect the price. Small isolated repairs may carry more mobilization cost per square foot than a large continuous paving area.
