Silt fence & construction-site erosion controls.

Lindsley Excavating reviews silt fence installation and erosion-control sitework as standalone scopes or part of a clearing and site-development package. Send the project's erosion-control drawings and details so installation, maintenance and removal responsibilities are clear.

Install from the project plan

The control locations, types and details should match the project documents and construction sequence. Send fence lengths, entrance dimensions, material specifications and features to protect. Site barriers for access control and silt fence for sediment control perform different jobs, so identify the intended function in the request.

Include access and ground preparation

Installation may require limited vegetation removal, minor grading, trenching or aggregate delivery depending on the details. Mark where equipment can travel and what must remain undisturbed. If controls are phased around earthwork or utility installation, include the timing and relocation requirements in the estimate request.

Separate installation from ongoing maintenance

A one-time installation price should not be confused with a maintenance commitment for the entire project. Define who inspects the controls, who authorizes repairs and whether sediment removal, replacement materials or repeat visits are included. A clearly stated duration or unit-price arrangement helps the GC compare bids with the same responsibilities.

Plan the removal and finish condition

Temporary controls may need removal when the project reaches the stage required by its plan. Identify who directs removal, who disposes of materials and what restoration follows. Topsoil placement and final grading can be included when requested. Landscaping and specialty stabilization products are separate unless expressly listed in the proposal.

Project questions

Can silt fence be installed before clearing?

The installation sequence is reviewed against the project plan and the work limits. Include the required timing with the clearing or sitework invitation.

Does the price include every repair until the project ends?

Only when that maintenance responsibility is expressly included. State the expected duration, inspection arrangements and authorization process for repairs.

Can erosion controls be included in a complete sitework bid?

Yes. Include the erosion-control drawings with the civil package and identify any owner or GC responsibilities.
